[NEW] PETKIT PuraMax 2 Automatic Litter Box

Great automatic litter box, especially for the price. Generally easy to use. I find emptying it to be kind of a pain but no less than with a traditional litter box, especially since it requires much less upkeep. The app is a nice feature. I recommend changing the liner every 4 months or so. It will break down and leak even if there are no visible tears.

I waited to give a review for a couple of weeks. I've always had a litter robot and didn't think it was possible for me to like something more than that. When the litter robot broke after 6 years, I needed something more affordable. UPDATE: 7/2/25The box has exceeded my expectations in comparison to the LitterRobot3. Smell control is absolutely superior only giving a scent when the waste receptacle is full. I've been a cat owner for more than half my life and evolved from plastic boxes & scoopers to automatic sifters to high tech like this and Litter Robot. So, trust, when I praise odor control. The odor control gel is great. The sifter catches all little reminants. I highly recommend. Only wish I'd 1st seen the model that came with the air purifier. Reliable, quiet, clean & odor free.My cat became a little wary of the scooping automation after a few uses, but I adjusted the clean cycle to be delayed more. He isn't skiddish any longer and uses it without a thought.Original May 2025So far so good. We had a LitterRobot3 since our car was a kitten, but in 5 years, we went through 2 boxes. With all the sensor malfunctions, I wanted to see if another auto litter box would suffice in the same or less price range. We were happy with the functions of our last box, so this one will take getting used to. This one seems to have more parts. This unit came assembled with little set up time and connecting to the app was easy. It rotates/ cleans litter upward, not sideways like LitterRobot. Will update my review after we see how things go. However, 1st day was a success. Uploading my cat's 1st use so others can see the unit size in comparison to my cat. So far, I like how quiet the unit is when it cleans.

I’ve been using the PETKIT PuraMax 2 for a little over a month now with my two cats, and I have to say—it’s made a big difference in my day-to-day routine. Overall, I’m really happy with it, though I do think the setup process could be a bit more user-friendly.What I really like:✅ The odor control is amazing. With the N50 deodorizer running, you honestly wouldn’t even know there’s a litter box in the house. I was worried about smells with two cats, but this took care of that right away.✅ The app is super convenient. I love being able to see when my cats have used the box, check their weight, and get a reminder when it’s time to empty the waste bin. It gives me peace of mind, especially when I’m not home.✅ It’s really quiet. I was surprised at how quietly it runs. My cats weren’t scared of it at all—which says a lot, considering one of them jumps at the sound of a paper bag.✅ Perfect for multiple cats. I have two, and I only need to change the litter bag every 7 to 8 days. It keeps everything tidy in between without any extra effort from me.What could be better:⚠ The initial setup took some patience. Getting the app to connect and installing the deodorizer wasn’t exactly straightforward. The instructions could definitely use some improvements—it wasn’t super intuitive.⚠ It’s not cheap. This was a bit of a splurge for me, and while I do think it’s worth it for the convenience and cleanliness, it’s still a decent chunk of change.If you’re a cat parent who’s tired of scooping and wants something that helps you stay on top of your cat’s health and hygiene, this box is a game changer. Just be prepared to spend a little time on the setup—and a little money up front. But once it’s up and running, it really does make life easier.

We have had this for 6 months and it is a great automated litter box. It works well and is consistent. It also has nice features. As our cat is one of those who scratches everywhere except where she needs to in order to cover her poo. This litter box has a feature for that built into the settings as an option. So when you select that option, after the cat does their business, the box gently rocks back and forth and actually covers the poo for the cat! Once it does the rocking bit, it completes the clean cycle and dumps the waste into the bin.For our cat, we have to change out the collection bag about once a week, and about every two weeks I need to clean the drum. The reality is that while I think this helps and is a great step-up from regular litter boxes, none of them completely eliminate maintenance. The only difficulty in cleaning this unit is the drum is large, but I see large drums on every automatic cat box. The drum is not heavy, but if you want to wash it you will need to place it in a tub or take it outside. Most of the time all I need to do is use Clorox sanitary wipes, I've only had to actually wash it once.
